The most-reviewed SEO profile in Freelancer.com's Vietnam directory has 811 client reviews and asks $15 an hour, $5 under the median of the first 50 profiles. Guru lists 334 Vietnamese freelancers under SEO, and one of the first 50 shows any earnings from the past 12 months.

How much does a freelance SEO specialist charge in Vietnam?

A Vietnamese SEO freelancer lists $10 to $25 an hour on the open marketplaces, and half of the 127 profiles we recorded ask $17 or less. We took the first 50 profiles with an hourly rate from Freelancer.com's Vietnam SEO directory and from Guru's Vietnam SEO directory, plus all 27 profiles on an archived Upwork page.

These are asking prices. A profile rate is set by the freelancer and can change at any time, and none of the three platforms shows what a Vietnamese SEO client paid per hour. Our global SEO freelancer rates comparison puts Upwork's worldwide median for past SEO contracts at $21 an hour.

How are Vietnamese SEO rates spread across price bands?

Fifty of the 127 profiles ask $10 to $19 an hour, the largest band by a wide margin. Another 23 ask under $10, and nine list $50 or more.

Of 127 Vietnamese SEO profiles, 23 ask under $10 an hour, 50 ask $10 to $19, 29 ask $20 to $29, 16 ask $30 to $49 and 9 ask $50 or more

The extremes come from profiles with little history behind them:

$150: the top rate in the sample, on an Upwork profile with 2 jobs.
$99: the highest Freelancer.com rate, from a Hồ Chí Minh City profile with 9 reviews.
$2: the floor on Freelancer.com, listed by two profiles, one with a single review.
$5: the lowest rate on Guru, where 9 of the first 50 profiles sit at that figure.

Guru shows the lowest prices of the three. Its first 50 service listings read like packages rather than consulting: "SEO PACKAGES", "SEO Monthly" and "Affordable SEO And Link Building Service" all price at $5 to $8 an hour.

What do Freelancer.com's Vietnamese SEO profiles ask?

Freelancer.com's directory mixes SEO specialists with developers who tick SEO as one skill among many. Its directory data returned 497 Vietnamese profiles tagged SEO, and only 4 of the first 50 open their bio on SEO. The first profile on the page describes itself as a full stack website design and development specialist.

We narrowed the 497 to profiles that mention SEO or search engines in the first 100 characters of their bio. That left 48, with a median of $13 an hour and a middle half of $9.50 to $20. Of those 48, 46 had no client review on September 23, 2026.

Location is spread thin. The first 50 profiles named Hà Nội 10 times, Hồ Chí Minh City 8 times and Đà Nẵng 4 times, and the rest listed provincial towns such as Hải Dương, Vinh and Ninh Bình.

Do reviews raise the rate?

Reviews move the Freelancer.com median by $5. The 19 profiles with 10 or more reviews ask a median $20, against $15 for the 31 with fewer. Past 50 reviews the median drops to $18.50, across 12 profiles.

Upwork shows no premium at all. On its archived page, the 12 profiles with 10 or more completed jobs listed a median $19, and the 15 with fewer listed $20.

What do Vietnamese SEO freelancers list on Guru?

Guru's first 50 Vietnamese SEO profiles ask a median $11.50 an hour, with a middle half of $8 to $20. Guru counted 334 Vietnamese freelancers under the SEO skill on September 23, 2026.

Almost none show traded work. Guru prints each freelancer's earnings from the past 12 months when there are any, and 1 of the 50 profiles showed a figure: $1,160 for a Vinh-based SEO listing charging $8 an hour.

What did Vietnamese SEO experts list on Upwork?

Upwork's featured Vietnamese SEO experts listed a median $20 an hour when the Internet Archive captured the Upwork Vietnam SEO experts page on October 7, 2024. The middle half ran from $15.50 to $31, across 27 profiles.

That capture is the only one the archive holds for the page, so the Upwork figures are 23 months older than the rest. The page rated its SEO experts 4.7 out of 5 from 148 client reviews.

The profiles carry more history than the other two platforms. The most active listed 384 jobs at $18 an hour and another 314 jobs at $20. The first profile on the page, a Đà Nẵng translator and SEO writer with 45 jobs, listed $37.

On the archived Upwork page, did Vietnamese SEO experts with 10 or more jobs list a higher median rate than those with fewer?

No. The 12 profiles with 10 or more jobs listed a median $19 an hour, and the 15 with fewer listed $20.

Is there a Vietnamese freelance platform that lists SEO rates?

No local platform showed readable SEO rates on September 23, 2026. vLance, a Vietnamese freelance marketplace, served a Cloudflare security check to our requests from a script and from a desktop browser. The Internet Archive holds its SEO freelancer pages only from April 2016, too old to use.

The other local options came up empty:

freelancerViet: its freelance job board listed no open jobs when we read it.
TopCV: the SEO job search returned 241 ads, almost all salaried roles quoted in million dong a month. A search for "cộng tác viên SEO" (SEO collaborator, the usual Vietnamese term for a freelance contributor) returned one ad, with pay listed as "Thoả thuận", or negotiable.
PeoplePerHour: its Vietnam page returned 21 profiles, most of them developers, designers and translators, so we left it out.

What does a salaried SEO specialist earn in Vietnam?

A salaried SEO Executive in Vietnam earns an advertised average of 12.5 million VND a month, and most ads pay 10 million to 15 million. The figures come from TopCV's SEO Executive salary report, which TopCV builds from job ads posted on its site in the past six months. Glassdoor had no SEO Specialist estimate for Vietnam when we checked.

SEO Managers earn more than executives in TopCV data. TopCV's SEO Manager report puts the average at 17.5 million VND a month, with most ads at 15 million to 20 million. By city, SEO Executive ads average 13 million VND in Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh City, 11 million in Nghệ An and 9 million in Đà Nẵng.

The national figure sits close. The General Statistics Office's labour report for the second quarter of 2026 puts the average wage employee at 10.0 million VND a month in the first half of 2026, and 11.1 million in cities.

The salary figures are a floor, not a freelance rate. A freelancer pays for their own software, unbilled weeks and platform fees out of the hourly price.

What changes a Vietnamese SEO freelancer's rate?

Platform fees

The marketplace takes 10% to 20% of what the client pays. Freelancer.com's fee page charges 10% on hourly projects, and 10% or $5, whichever is greater, on fixed-price ones. Upwork's freelancer service fee runs from 0% to 15% per contract, fixed when the contract starts.

Fiverr keeps the most. Its earnings help page says a seller earns 80% of each order, tips included. A Freelancer.com SEO profile at the $20 median takes home $18 an hour.

English level

Vietnam scored 500 on the EF English Proficiency Index 2025, 64th in the world and 12 points over the global average of 488. The skill scores split: reading 522 and writing 508, against listening 470 and speaking 461.

Vietnam runs on Indochina Time, UTC+7, with no daylight saving. 9:00 in New York during US daylight time is 20:00 in Hà Nội, so a US client gets little same-day overlap without a late shift.

What is the minimum wage per hour in Vietnam in 2026?

Decree 293/2025/NĐ-CP, in force from January 1, 2026, sets 25,500 VND an hour in Region I, the highest of four regions, and 17,800 VND in Region IV. The monthly minimum in Region I is 5,310,000 VND. It applies to employees on labour contracts, not to freelancers.

Do Vietnamese SEO freelancers quote in dong or dollars?

All 127 marketplace profiles we recorded quoted US dollars. Local job ads on TopCV quote salaries in million dong a month, and one remote SEO ad listed pay from $1,600 a month.

How many hours a week do salaried employees in Vietnam work?

The Labour Code allows up to 8 normal hours a day and 48 a week, and it encourages employers to adopt a 40-hour week. Our salary conversions use the 48-hour ceiling, so an employer on a 40-hour week pays 20% more per hour for the same salary.
